Peace Within You: Moments That Pass Far Too Quickly

Updated: Jun 16

I have always felt connected to the ocean.

Not because of the beaches, the boats, or even the creatures that call it home.

I love the ocean because of how it makes me feel.

The world moves fast. There is always something demanding our attention, another task to finish, another place to be. Yet the moment I stand near the water, something changes.

My breathing slows.

My thoughts quiet.

The noise fades.

The ocean reminds me that not everything beautiful has to be rushed.

Perhaps that is why I am drawn to newborn photography.

Newborns arrive in the world with that same gentle energy.

They don't hurry.

They don't worry about tomorrow.

They simply exist.

Peacefully.

Honestly.

Completely present in the moment.

When I create ocean-inspired artwork, I am not really creating scenes about dolphins, turtles, boats, or seashells. I am trying to capture a feeling.

The feeling of calm waves.

The feeling of soft colors drifting together.

The feeling of floating without fear.

The feeling that everything is exactly as it should be.

Some of my favorite ocean creatures seem to understand this better than we do.

Turtles move through life without rushing.

Dolphins play with joy.

Even the tides know when to come forward and when to retreat.

Nature never hurries, yet somehow everything gets done.

As a mother, an artist, and a photographer, that is a lesson I continue to learn.

Slow down.

Breathe deeply.

Trust the journey.

Enjoy the season you are in.

Because babies do not stay little forever. Just like waves, these moments arrive softly, stay briefly, and then become beautiful memories.

That is why I photograph them. To hold onto a little piece of that calm before it drifts away.
